About us

Rafael ‘Tschäff’ Rhyner laid the foundation for Trailworks back in 1998, which makes us one of the most experienced companies in the planning, design and construction of sustainable trails and hiking paths, bike parks, competition routes and cycling activities for children. Increasing numbers of projects are now taking us to remote, alpine regions, where we set up and restore hiking and biking trails on particularly challenging terrain.

We tap into our experience and expertise to develop target-group-focused master plans, arrange approvals, and ultimately implement the project in a nature-friendly and resource-conserving manner.

We now employ around 20 people. We have a well-trained and committed team – from environmental engineers to carpenters, from landscapers to forest managers, and from road builders to metal workers and construction draughtspeople. We therefore operate our own machinery, which is specially tailored to the requirements of trail and hiking path development.

Nature

We work in and with nature. We understand its power but also how delicate it is, especially in the alpine region. Nature-friendly, clean work and the careful use of resources are particularly important to us.

Among other things, this means that we take natural aspects into account right from the start during the initial planning stage and usually work closely with an environmental construction support officer. Our specialists undergo continuous training and the materials we use for construction are largely produced on site.

Community

Every successful process begins with getting the various stakeholders together and on common ground. If all involved parties are included right from the start, a lot of time, energy and therefore invested resources can be saved in the subsequent steps. Our strengths therefore lie not only in planning, design and implementation, but also in establishing a solid foundation in the community. We believe in the power of cohesion and teamwork.
